Mixxers, quite honestly some of you are starting to piss me off. I know Mixx is not MY site, but I like to hang out there and try to help keep the BS to a minimum. I am still faced with the issue of “Photo” section abuse. Guys, cut the crap and keep the photo section clean. It is not a section for you to abuse.
If you have a story you want to submit, put it in the story section and insert a thumbnail, NOT THE PHOTO SECTION! It is getting stupid and out of hand and I will report them all day. And yes Mixxers, I put THIS post in the “Photo” section to make a point!
Have fun and Happy Mixxing!
Some people might laugh at these photos of porn star Scarlett Fay promoting her Lindsay Lohan video for Hustler, but let’s be frank for a minute. This chick is doing way better than Lindsay. I mean, just think about it: She’s employed, not sentenced to rehab and stars in a movie that actually got made instead of being nothing but promo shots in a seedy hotel room. If it was up to me, I’d hire her to be Lindsay’s life-coach/personal Jesus and years from now she’d thank me for it. Preferably in the form of a free copy of “Freckles Fellatio: Space Attorney.”

I hate cameras. They are so much more sure than I am about everything. -John Steinbeck
Rachel Walker is a third generation San Diegan who dreams of snow. A storyteller, poet, and photographer, her work runs the gamut from the bizarre to the beautiful and tends to settle somewhere in between. Although most of her education has focused on the written word, Rachel is an avid photographer and recognizes the value of this art in her life and creative endeavors. Learning to see through the lens of a camera has given Rachel the extraordinary opportunity to explore life in the intimate details of color, shape, and texture. “What I have learned from photography,” she says, “is there are so many details I pass by every day without a second look. The camera changes that; it makes me slow down, take a breath and be still. It’s like yoga for my imagination.”
What kind of subject matter inspires you the most?
My photography is mostly inspired by color and shape in nature, and the human form in shadow and silhouette. An unusual color scheme in an ocean sunset, or a shard of green glass on the sidewalk, these images capture my imagination and if I don’t take their picture I’m likely to lie awake all night wondering “what if?”
It’s often that I meet artists/photographers who are also writers. Do you feel that you draw inspiration from the same subject matter(s) with both mediums or are they in two totally different categories for you?
Photography is something that I feel has evolved alongside my writing, like two plants in the same pot. Many of my poems and short stories are inspired by the visual world, and the photographs I take both inspire and draw their inspiration from the stories and poems that I write. When I write it is because I have internalized my inspiration and it has overflowed and spilled onto the page. When I am taking pictures, I am finding inspiration outside of me and giving it a frame so that I might understand it better. The dichotomy of the two helps to balance my life and my art.
What kind of art and photography grabs your attention?
I like the unknown in photography; the parts of the photo just outside the frame, and the moments that take place right before and right after the shutter clicks. I am strongly attracted to texture, shape and color in the art that I most admire. I like art that exists by its own rules, whether or not it is given the admiration such boldness deserves. Finding new and emerging artists and their work is important to me as I love the possibilities these new creations hold. I love the human form in art, and how something as two dimensional as a photograph or a painting can capture and hold something as seemingly uncontainable as emotion. A few examples of artists and photographers I greatly admire include Carmen Luceno, Yves Klein, Vincent van Gogh, Brad Carlile, and the old man who surprised me with an oil pastel portrait at a bar last year and left without signing his name.
What is your current focus (in art/photography) and how do you think that will evolve?
I feel like my photography is in a state of evolution even as I answer this question. My current focus changes every time I pick up my camera, much of it based on my mood, the weather, and how balanced (or unbalanced) I may be feeling, all of which is reflected back in my art. I find my biggest challenge is photographing people in motion and am working to better develop my eye for the human form through action shots and new angles. I am also brainstorming new ways to combine my photography with my writing, and am working on a website to showcase both. I enjoy collaborating with a wide range of artists in a variety of genres, and hope to see my art evolve as I expand into more integrative projects.

6 Tips for Photography (At Your Ex-Girlfriend’s Wedding):
I was able to capture this scene just seconds after a feral cat caught the newly released dove. Notice how I waited until the background was empty of feet to enhance the isolation of this omen. At the time, both sides of the family chuckled about the irony of the situation but no one will be chuckling years from now when the marriage is struggling from infidelity and alcoholism and the picture of a dead dove is the only memory of how nature aligned long ago to speak out against this unity.

JOHN FRENCH (1906–1966) PHOTOGRAPHER
John French was one of London’s top fashion photographers of the 1950s and 1960s, an era when those who wore and photographed clothing for a living could become famous overnight. The models he worked with included the most famous of the time, many were debutantes who went on to become well-known society figures. French persuaded the art editors of the national press to use his flawlessly lit images of top models and his work appeared in virtually every newspaper and magazine. After his death the John French archive was presented to the Victoria and Albert Museum, the worlds greatest museum of decorative arts and design, and his work has been celebrated as part of a major exhibition ‘The Golden Age of Couture’.

David Bailey about his friend, John French:
“…When he demobbed in August 1958, Bailey acquired a Canon Rangefinder camera and the ambition to make a living with it. He applied to the London College of Printing but was rejected because he'd dropped out of school. Instead, he wound up working as a second assistant to photographer David Olins at his studio in Charlotte Mews in the West End. He was a glorified gofer–not even glorified, actually, at three pounds, ten shillings a week–and was therefore delighted a few months later to be called to an interview at the studio of John French, a somewhat better-known name and a man who had a reputation for nurturing his assistants' careers.
French, then in his early fifties, was the epitome of the fashion photographer and portraitist of the era: exquisitely attired, fastidious, posh and gay (although, as it happened, married). “John French looked,” Bailey remembered, “like Fred Astaire. 'David,' he said, 'do you know about incandescent light and strobe? Do you know how to load a ten-by-eight film pack?' I said yes to everything he asked and he gave me the job, but, at that time, I didn't even know what a strobe was. We became friends and after six o'clock Mr. French became John. One night I asked him why he gave me the job. 'Well, you know, David,' he said, 'I liked the way you dressed.' Six months later everyone thought we were having an affair, but in fact, although we were fond of each other, we never got it on.”
In fact, French–”a screaming queen who fancied East End boys,” according to documentarian Dick Fontaine–was the first person to really recognize something special in Bailey. Partly it was his bohemian style–Cuban-heeled boots, jeans, leather jacket and hair over the ears, all before the Beatles had been heard of; party in was his aptitude for the craft. French liked to compare his young protege to the unnamed hero of Colin MacInnes's cult novel about bohemian London, Absolute Beginners–a savvy insight–and he was perfectly willing, as he had with many previous disciples, to see Bailey get ahead in his own work.
“He was an incredibly decent type of man,” Bailey would say of his mentor after French died in 1966. “I don't think he was very good as a photographer, but he had a good attitude. His photography sort of slowed me down a bit, because I had to break away from his way of doing things, but I benefited from his attitude.”
Even more, he would say years later, “I owe my success to two gay men, really, who told me I was wonderful and pushed me. Being a Cockney and working class, I was an outsider, and in those days gays were outcasts, too. So we felt an affinity. Anyway, John French introduced me to the picture editor of the Daily Express, and John Parsons, the art director of British Vogue–the second gay man–saw my pictures in the newspaper and offered me a job at the magazine.”

Panasonic has just announced their first consumer 3D camcorder – the Panasonic HDC-SDT750, a camcorder that uses a special 3D conversion lens to shoot stereoscopic 3D video. Now the fact that you need a special lens adapter should immediately make you think that the camera is not able to record two separate 1080p frames for each eye and you will be absolutely right. The camcorder records in 1080p half resolution (squashed), so actually both the frames for the left and the right eye are put into a single 1920×1080 resolution and when being watched they get stretched to the correct aspect ratio.
The Panasonic SDT750 features a Time Lapse Recording feature, which plays a scene such as a sunset or a blooming flower at an accelerated speed, similar to a fast-forward. By setting the recording interval to 1 second, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute or 2 minutes, the user can view an otherwise long recording in a reduced time period. For example, when a scene is recorded at the 1-second interval setting, a 10-minute sunset scene can be played back in approximately 10 seconds, making the slow change in the subject appear as if it were taking place in a very short time. This time interval recording feature is also available when the 3D conversion lens is attached to the SDT750, so you will be able to shoot stereoscopic 3D time lapse videos too.
The Panasonic HDC-SDT750 should help get more user generated 3D content, although not in true Full HD resolution. Another possible drawback is the fact that the LCD preview display on the camera will not be an autostereoscopic one, so you will not be able to see live 3D preview, but instead it will just show preview of the 2D video coming trough the left lens. So this will make it harder at first to get a good idea of the level of the 3D effect of the video you are currently shooting, but after getting some experience with the camera and trying a few things you should be Ok. The interaxial distance between the left and right lens in the 3D lens adapter also do seem quite small, so the camera will most likely be good for shooting 3D of closer objects.
The consumer 3D camcorder Panasonic HDC-SDT750 is expected to be available starting October (earlier only in Japan) with a suggested end user price of $1399.95 USD.
Roger Ebert hates 3D, and Avatar gave me a headache. But it’s the hottest video trend in 2010 and likely 2011. Scores of movies (including good ones, like Toy Story 3) are leading the way in the high-end bracket, but 3D televisions are starting to trickle down to the masses, and Nintendo’s 3DS might be the first massively successful 3D gadget on the market. It remains to be seen if anyone actually wants 3D in their home, but there are going to be lots of ways to do it regardless.
That’s where Panasonic’s new camcorder comes in. The camcorder is very important and innovative, so Panasonic gave it a catchy, easy-to-remember name: the HDC-SDT750. (Panasonic’s naming strategy is a cat named Steve who stomps on the keyboard of a Panasonic engineer.) The camera is billed as the world’s first consumer 3D camcorder.
The camera is essentially an older 3MOS camcorder with a 3D attachment that can actually be removed for standard 2D video–a nice touch, since you won’t want all of your video in 3D. It uses a 3MOS sensor system, rated at 7.59 motion megapixels, and can accurately capture 5.1 surround sound with five discreen microphones scattered throughout the casing. It also sports a 3-inch touchscreen for navigation.
Video is recorded in AVCHD format, at 1080p resolution and 60fps. That attachment records both right-eye and left-eye images simultaneously, both at 1080p resultion. When shooting in normal 2D, it’s got all the amenities you’d want–face recognition, Hybrid O.I.S. image stabilization, that kind of thing.
Panasonic specifcally names its own Viera line of 3D televisions as being compatible. It’s not clear if other 3D TVs from makers like Sony would also be able to correctly play back 3D video taken with the camcorder.
The Panasonic HDC-SDT750 will be available in October on Panasonic’s site with a suggested price of $1,399. That’s expensive, sure, but it’s the first of its kind–nobody ever said being an early adopter would be cheap.

After plenty of web leaks, Panasonic has finally unveiled the world's first consumer 3D camcorder, the HDC-SDT750. Expert Reviews was fortunate enough to be at Panasonic's pre-launch event in Stockholm at the beginning of July, so we've had our hands on the camera and seen it in action.
Compared to the company's professional 3D camcorders, the SDT750 is incredibly compact. It's actually a 2D camcorder – an update of the HDC-TM700 – with a 3D conversion lens attached to the front. This means you get the best of both worlds, with the ability to shoot in high-quality 1080p in 2D, and also in 3D at a lower resolution (960×540, or 960×1080i).
The reason for the lower resolution is that the main lens (and single sensor) has to capture the two images from the conversion lens side-by-side. It's the same method that Sky uses for its 3D broadcasts. However, in live demos of the camcorder connected to a 50in 3DTV, the images still looked sharp and – importantly – had a good 3D effect.
Of course, you'll need such a TV in order to see the 3D footage from the SDT750. Currently, Panasonic's Viera TX-P50VT20B costs around £2,100, and the SDT750 will set you back £1,300. Add the DMP-BDT300 3D Blu-ray player for £350 and you're looking at a hefty total of almost £4,000 for the privilege.
Don't forget, too, that you'll need a Blu-ray burner so you can create 3D Blu-ray discs – Panasonic will launch one shortly. Editing video is important if you don't want your audience to be bored, and a copy of HD Writer AE 2.6T is included for this purpose. Currently it runs on Windows only, but allows you to edit 3D footage from the SDT750 as easily as you would with 2D video.
We'll bring you a full review of the HDC-SDT750 as soon as we can.

At the vanguard of 3D technology
, this year Panasonic launched its Full HD 3D VIERA plasma TVs and 3D Blu-ray DiscTM players for homes as well as the world's first professional 3D camcorder. The development of a consumer camcorder capable of 3D recording is a natural next step for the company.
Incorporating Panasonic's broadcast technology, the advanced 3MOS System SDT750 camcorder lets users easily create their own 3D movies, something that previously only professional image producers had been able to do. Combined with a VIERA 3DTV3 and Blu-ray DiscTM player/recorder4, the SDT750 camcorder makes it possible to save precious memories of friends and family in vivid, lifelike 3D images, thereby further expanding the world of 3D enjoyment at home.
Even without the 3D conversion lens attached, there are many ways to enjoy the SDT750 camcorder. The 3MOS system with improved noise reduction (NR) technologies
records dimly lit images in greater beauty than ever before. Other sophisticated functions include 1080/60p for NTSC or 1080/50p for PAL recording (Full-HD 1,920 x 1,080, 60 or 50 progressive recording)5 for ultra-smooth images, iA (Intelligent Auto) mode5 in the new HYBRID O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization/Optical Image Stabilizer
)5, and a wealth of manual functions controlled by a manual ring6 for easy, creative shooting.
The high-sensitivity 3MOS System provides an effective motion image pixel count of 7,590,000 pixels (2,530,000 pixels x 3). And even with this high pixel count, newly developed technology increases sensitivity, and further-evolved NR technology achieves bright images with minimal noise when shooting under low light conditions. This maximizes the 3MOS features of excellent color reproduction, high resolution and rich gradation, and lets the user capture vividly colored images in both bright and darkly lit places.
Recording in 1,080/60p for NTSC or 1,080/50p for PAL5, the SDT750 camcorder produces richly expressive images, with none of the detail loss and flickering of the conventional 1,080i (interlace) recording. In addition, the iA function, which was highly popular on previous models, makes it easy for anyone to take beautiful videos. The SDT750 camcorder also newly incorporates the HYBRID O.I.S. system5 to bring clear, beautiful HD image quality to telephoto shots as well.
The HDC-SDT750 will be available in October for a suggested retail price of $1,399.95.

Overall I rated this website a 9 out 10, 10 being the best. The selection was great, the styles were awesome and very Chic. The prices where magnificent and the options we countless. I will definitely be recommending this website to all my family and friends.
Another website to order Holiday photo cards that I liked was www.photworks.com. They were offering free shipping till December 10, 2007. This website has a great variety of card templates and what made them stand out were the shapes they came in; such as accordion shape, flower shaped, round, see-through, and with cut outs. The prices ranged from $ .52 to up to $4.00. The sizes and shapes range from 1.75 x 1/75 to 5×7. They require you to sign up on this sight and I didn't like having to do that but overall I rate this website a 7 out of 10.
The third site I visited was www.msngreeting.com. This site offers a variety of holiday photo cards ranging from $0.85 to $1.89. On this website you can make scrapbook, calendars and much more. The instructions on how to download your photos are very easy to understand and you can also add text where you want it. The shipping on this site takes usually 7-10 business days.
There are a lot more websites out there offering Holiday Photo card templates to download, all you have to do is look using the Google search engine.
